Gold Program 2:ukflag:

Went out to one of the local surf beaches today to check out the gold program from Andy's book page 129.
Nearly low tide so went out to low tide about 600 yards out. Found the program very stable and easy to use with little noise which I seem to get on the Explorer, with the medium cursor used.

A lot has to do with TIME. If you have a lot of time and can still cover most if not all of the beach like i do you can dig it all except bottle caps and do even better. Patterns have their advantage.... and disadvantages especially on a mineralized beach. Like Andy said in his book thou...... at the end of the day its all about the finds. Yours sounds pretty darn good to me.

The reason I have started using that program is so I don't spend all day digging copper coins, the beaches seem to be thick with them, one day I picked up 158 copper pennies and half pennies, I think I have loaded the file with the coins on it correctly.
I didn't find any copper yesterday so it seems to be working.

I will tell you that pennies and some large class rings can come in very close. VA Max runs a program as do i blocking out pennies. But he tested larger class rings and found that pattern would knock out some of those large rings. Those pennies can be a real pain..... ive got a beach here that was a WWII parctice range and i dig a lot of .50 cal rounds. Digging takes time..... lots of time and when you dont have much, digging basicly worthless targets dont help. I dont remember, but i think Andy even blocks out coins. I dig everything but a bottle cap running IM at 28. Like you i get tired of digging JUNK..... but in the end its all about the find baby.

I set up the gold program and checked it with some gold an an old Sovereign that I have found, on checking I found that it would not detect the Sovereign with the large cursor across the top so I changed it to the medium cursor and it seems to work fine. I like that it seems very stable, a lot of programs seem to be sending more code all the time no matter what I do but those settings it never made a chirp all day so I wasn't being driven mad with the noise. I actually stopped using the machine for quite some time because of that.

Hey Jan1, I looked at the Gold Program on page 129 of Andy's book; at the bottom of the page, he shows two screens and I'm wondering if you opted to accept coins because not only will copper pennies be rejected but also dimes, quarters and your silver coins. Of course, if you are ONLY looking for gold, that is the price you pay which can be rewarding if you indeed find gold. I'm assuming you opted accept coins because you said you found

Just had another look at the ring, it is stamped 990 so it must be over 22 carat, I think it is a new carat measure that has only just come out.

Just taken the ring to a friendly jeweler.
The ring I found is 99% pure GOLD, didn't know they made jewelry with gold that pure.
I now hope to find more!!!!!!!
