Gold or a fool

I just found an old ring today at a park that goes back to civil war times that is stamped with"solidxgold". It sure looks like gold and has the weight. Can anyone tell me anything about this?

Here is a pic of the inside. There is another stamp next to the "solidxgold" that looks like an "S" but I can't be certain.

It;s gold Cool find !!!! Back in the day all they had to do was mark it !!!

Thanks! That's my first gold ring. I've been hunting for over 25 years. Better late than never i guess. I'm typically focused on the silver and don't dig anything lower than an indian head. The only reason I dug it is because the site had civil war activity and my mindset was relic hunting.

Thanks again! HH.

Seen a lot of rings marked this way. However, they usually test out at 10K. Still gold though! Great job, hwat numbers did you see? HH, Mike
