Gold on the Explorer....could use some help!?

Hey guys...I have a question, which I know is kind of vague and perhaps tough to answer as there are many variables...but...I'm curious as to where gold rings, etc generally come up on the explorer. I'm guessing in the pulltab area...but there must be some differences. I have the XS, so I can only get the conductivity reading in Digital...but what sort of numbers should I expect on gold rings...and can I distinguish between pulltabs and gold in any manner...or am I stuck with digging all pulltab signals!?! I'm in a spot where I know there is gold jewellery for sure. Thanks for your help.Wess

Wess, gold rings and pulltabs do have different reading but not 100% but that is true of any other target. The best way I have found is to Learn a pulltab with the smallest Learn Reject square. Then Learn Accept a gold ring. If necessary use edit to clean up the pattern. Then test the pulltab and some gold rings and you will hear there is a difference. I don't recall all the function on the XS but the difference can clearly be see on the Smartfind screen in the expanded screen.
I read on some of the other forums that we cannot tell the difference which amazes me as I have been doing it for years. What we cannot do is tell the difference 100% of the time. I have a large number of rings found over the years and just about all of them will still be detected while pulltabs, tabs, and tails are rejected.
See the illustration for rejection of pulltabs, tabs and tails.

I was hoping there may be some obvious differences without my having to use the learn function. Oh well, I think I may just clean out all the pulltabs at my spot...as it may uncover some more coins anyhow.
