Gold "O" inscribed "The Beginning of............................"

From the land of the Bluenose.....had the pleasure yesterday of having a visit from French Dave and his little princess Mary Rose, who is growing like a weed and with more get up and go then the Energizer Bunny. We couldn't go detecting but did talk up a storm on the subject and I let French Dave go through my finds and take the military stuff as well as the Spanish coin I found this year.

Subject came up about coin cleaning so I dug out a toasty encrusted Dominican coin and did the heating thing on the stove.

Well me son a few moments later we heard a loud pop and voila...we doubled our money as the coin split in two!

So much for that idea.

After a meal and a movie my guests had to go and met up with Monique who is in town attending a doctor's conference. Imagine poor French Dave will be dragged to every shopping mall in metro by the end of the night by his two ladies!

Today started out okay but the tv said that we were in for a cold day with snow and high winds. Just the type of weather I love to detect in me son so I double bagged myself and away I went. Really wasn't too bad in the beginning with just the sky getting a tad dark over the armoury.
</center

Bottle caps and coins popped out of the ground with no problem as the earth had yet to freeze. By one ball field on the Commons I pulled out a plug and there she was.............yesssssssssssss!

At first I thought it was silver.....not! Not having my specs on I couldn't read the hallmark nor the engraving which I later discovered read "The beginning of forever" along with the 10k marking.

Happy with the ring I continued on a digging as the weather got progressively foul. My middle finger on my swinging hand got numb and won't bend remaining in the "upright" position. Good thing I didn't have to wave to anyone!

Being a unionized dig ,(United Nuts digging In Every Spot or "Undies" for short)I took a coffee break at Tim's to warm up on the inside and out.

Returning to the fields I was greeted by a few mangy mutts who sniffed and returned to their owners. Scared the crap out of me. On the bright side..... easy way to loss 40 pounds four shore me bouy. Anyway dug away finding a wack of keys and pennies. Then all hell broke loose

and this was just the beginning. Too much for this bouy so I warmed up Otto and tobagganed home passing two cars off the Bihi in the ditch.

Take for the day was the gold ring, 3 keys and 62 coins @ $7.80

Lord love a duck. Marie is putting up the Christmas tree and decorating it as I write this post. That is not too bad but for the next two hours I'll be subjected to her karaoking to every song from the "Sound of Music" dvd playing on the tube. Praise the Lord as I have headphones that I can plug into my computer and "Limewire"!

Way to go Les. The pictures you show and the stories you tell make me feel like I was there with you. Problem is I don't see that ring in my box...

Great stuff again as usual!!! And you got a two for one on that coin. Remind me never to boil them.......:hot::rofl:

Great story and a really nice ring. I'm putting a gold ring with a cool inscription on my "want to find list."

Lots of room for duets in "The Sound of Music." Get you a big glass of something warming and join in.

Chris

Looks like it was the beginning of the end of ownership for some poor schmuck:cry: Nice find.
