gold numbers on safari any help

Hello i want to know why gold hits at 9 to 14 and doesn't show as gold i dug a silver bracelet at 9 which said foil my 14k chain hits at 12 so i have to dig all foil hits or is there a way of knowing any help i run auto and coin jewelry mode is there a trick how to know if its gold or just dig all these numbers thanks

Thin gold, like a chain ,will show up low,a thick ring would be higher, the spectrum for any metal will vary outside of that shown on the guide, depending on the type of target;Dig them all,you never know what awaits below ground.

Gold hits all over the scale on my Safari. Chains seem to be harder to identify I think because of the size of the links and clasps. If they have a charm or pendant on them they come in a lot better. White Gold really has some strange ID's. Platinum comes in around 4 or 6 on my machine in this ground in east TN. So like the other people said just dig it all to be safe. Hope this helps. HH :minelab:
