Gold Newbie question

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to gold hunting, but not to the hobby. I've been swinging a machine for 30 plus years now. Anyway here's the deal, my daughter and son-in-law live just outside Reno, NV and I would love to take my son-in-law gold nugget hunting someday when I go visit. I currently own a Minelab SE Pro and a XS, a Fisher F75 and F2 and a Ground Hawk relic machine which operates on a 6.5 frequency. Which, if any, of these machines should I take and use to find gold nuggets? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Hey digginrebel, Your best bet is probably the F75. Check out Steve Herschbach's post in the Findmall Fseries forum dated 8-30-09.

I have hunted and found gold nuggets with the F75. Using the 6" eliptical it makea a good detector for small gold. IMO the SE and XS would not be much good for nugget hunting. Don't know anything about the F2 or Ground Hawk.

Thanks for the input guys. I was kinda leaning toward the F75 as well based on the weight and frequency of the machine and I do have a small coil for it. If I were to buy him a beginner machine, assuming he gets into it, what is a good stater machine?

Are you wanting a nugget hunting detector,? if so I would recommend a Tesoro Lobo ST or a GMT or maybe the NEW Fisher GB.

I agree with the F75. It will find really small items, which most nuggets are. Smaller than it will find, you will need to pan it.

It has plenty of heat for nugget hunting and a lot of features for what ever else you may want to hunt for. A very adaptable machine.
