Gold Mak, Mak2, Fors plus only Impact on Gold

Hello,
We had a chance to hit the gold hills and brush today for a few more gold finds and a button. Also included a few pics from finds from other trips in last few months. So far the new Nokta impact has no proof from the goldfields from testers so Goldracer , Racer2 and Fors plus are still some of the proven best choices for gold prospecting. They are all awesome and deadly on gold of all sizes in mild to heavy mineralization. So far Nokta Impact is a no show and may not even be able to match previous gold and muti purpose detectors from Nok/mak in the goldfields. Time will tell. Meanwhile if your in the market for Gold detection the above listed is the proven way to go.
Good luck

That's a lot of nice, shiny yellow stuff! Congratulations!

How deep were you typically finding the nuggets? Were they usually less than
an inch deep or were they deeper?

Hello Tom
The depths that the different gold ive found with these detectors always depended on many factors. But all of them are great competitive choices to keep up and most of the time surpass the old gold detecting vlf greats. I detected more gold at places that I used other great detectors in the years past with these units. They are not a Pulse induction unit when it comes to raw depth. But all along I get alittle more depth especially for gold targets right at the fringe of detection more then likely due to their unmasking in strong mineralization ability. I still have my old previous great detectors, but my first string gold detecting is done with one of my Nok/mak detectors. My full time partner also uses the Gold Racer now and is very pleased with it over her old choice gb pro and gb2. I hope to see some of the Impact testers give us a performance report of how it runs in the goldfields and mineralization. I know it is not a strickly gold detector, but neither is Racer2 and it is doing very very well in the gold patches for me. Good luck

Cal, I pretty much just use all metal with sens. as high as the ground allows and some isat adjustment to whatever keeps the threshold stable.

Your gold is always so clean and lumpy, even when small. Bits like that in my parts are few and far between.

The Impact has all the features available in the Fors Gold+, 19kHz vs 20 kHz, but the Impact has the wider iSat adjustment like in the Gold Racer and Racer 2.
The Impact also has a hugely variable (100 step) threshold Tone Adjustment, unlike the Gold Racer which only has high/low options.

Now you add the fact that the Impact Pro Pack includes the 7.5" elliptical coil, and you have a detector that can be a hot little nugget shooter.

The Gen D mode is a 2-tone all-metal mode, grunt for iron, and you can set the tone break point. This has so far proven to be a great mode in trashy goldfield sites.
Looking forward to trying the optional 9.5"x5" coil - I really like the look of that one.

Still early days, more videos will come.

Have to say that looks pretty good CG. I just picked up a Racer 2 after doing some checking into it. I completely overlooked its' prospecting abilities.

Is that the 10x5.5 coil? Thanks for the PICS.

Rich (Utah)

Hey Rich. Yes I mostly use the 10x5 coil for gold. The standard 11x7 coil is great too. but I like the solid coils better to lightly glide across the ground. The open spoked coils always get sticks and rocks stuck in them. If you decide to get a 10x5 solid coil it is actually made for Racer1 but it is compatible with Racer2. It is the R26 model. Good luck

Love that coil on my racer 2 also!!
Side note, finally got my hands on the fors gold+ 5.5x10 concentric for my fors relic!!! Can't wait to get out there with it!!
