Gold jewerly and ring hunting

foreign object

New member
I have just became a member here and so far i have already learned a good bit from you guys. I am retired and after spending a little time with my brother in law digging up old coins and some junk i want to bget me a MD. I have acces to a CZ3d that is like new at a good price and may buy it not sure yet.

Any way i see that the CZ is good for coins which is great but my intrest lies more with gold jewerly and the such. Not much into relics although i fit very well into that category myself.
My question to you guys is what would be a good machine for my intended use? Are there certian things that i should look for in a MD that will help finding more gold jewerly and rings? I have read here and understand that that there are no real short cuts and that a patiencs and a good digging tool will be my best tools in the long run.

Any info will always be appericated.
Thanks

Using a CZ the hot spot is the foil facet for finding gold rings and probably as good as any for finding gold rings as it has facets not individual numbers where we become too selective.

Gold rings usually hit harder, smoother, mellower but can fall anywhere from low foil into screwcap and with all the junk in the ground that mimics them so be prepared to dig a lot. Many oldtimers have their individual ways of cutting down the odds but swimming beaches or water hunting you increase your chances of finding one and may
wan't a land CZ for beaches and a water CZ for water hunting especially salt water enviroments where the CZ's are as good as or in most cases the better unit...
