Not necessarily a strict Tesoro question, but I like and trust the feedback on this forum so figured Id start here...
For you land jewelry hunters, do you find more jewelry on the sidelines of athletic fields, or on the fields themselves?
Does your trash to treasure ratio get better in on the fields or not?
Do you like modern parks or older parks for jewelry?
I have my theories but they are just that. Here is what Im thinking--
At first I thought that the field itself would be more productive as this is where the activity is taking place that might cause a ring or chain to fall to the ground. On the other hand, most players take their jewelry off beforehand and might lose it when they retrieve their towel or warm-up jacket where they placed the item on the sidelines.
Im also wondering how much valuable jewelry is worn by little kids, many of them boys, while playing on the fields. Meanwhile, the mothers and fathers are on the sidelines putting sun block on their children, getting their Gatorade out of the cooler, handing them equipment, etc. More chance that they lose a ring?...
Fields have less trash in my expereince but they are also much bigger than the sidelines and take much more time to cover.
Lots of clad on the sidelines, not so much in the fields. When jewelry hunting , clad is a nice distraction, but not really important to me.
Modern parks in my area also have much, much less trash, but perhaps older fields hold much, much more jewelry becaue of time and because its hiding in the trash. On the other hand, modern parks around here are frequented by folks who have much more valuable jewelry than did most people 50 years ago, at least in my town.
So what do you fellow jewelry hunters concentrate on? Do you grid the entire field, or hit the sidelines, or both? Do you hit new parks or old ones, or both? Why?
