Gold in them hills...

Other than placing your MXT on prospecting, are there any secrets to dectecting gold? You've shared with me other ways in finding coins, no jewelry yet, but was wondering how to find gold with this detector? Thanks for any input! Cliff

Cliff, all you need to have with the MXT to find Gold is a 6X10 DD coil {not necessary but does help} and the knowledge of were you will be hunting research the area Gold can always be found were it has been found before. The old timers did not get it all they just scratched the surface. Good luck and let me know were you are located and I might know of some places to go in your area..................

Hillbilly Bob, A question for ya. I have a Minelab SD2200 PI type detector I use for my trips to the deserts of California and Arizona. But I am thinking real hard about getting a MXT in the next week. Most of my friends (Minelab lovers) say to get the Exterra 705. But I think the MXT is better for me. I would use it in relic hunting, coin hunting, and searching old tailings for gold in the desert. Not to put down either brand, I think the MXT might be better for me. Also I see you think the 6X10 DD coil would be good for gold. How about relic hunting?? Would the 6x10 DD be good for that also. I was leaning toward the next size smaller 6x4 DD oval.

Yes Sir Buck, the MXT is a great machine for Gold and I personally think the 6 X 10 DD is the coil to have in the gold fields, it's a good coil for relic hunters as well.............

I used to own an X Terra 70 , down here in Australia, and even though it was a good little gold getter for me ( I even kissed the control box on it a few times after finding some really nice species with it) I found that the MXT, even the GMT, were better machines. The SAT control is what does it along with the Whites super aggressive Auto tracking which leaves other VLF trackers for dead. In bad ground an MXT will leave a Terra squeeling its headphones off whilst the MXT can be made to cruise along nicely. Same goes for the GMT. Both really good. Whites makes the better VLF by far.
