Up at the crack of dawn this morning, I headed over to a park I had worked in the past and had found some nice gold and silver. This park has lots of baseball fields and 2 soccer fields. It is worked to death by everyone, including several detector clubs. I have never worked the ball fields but have worked the soccer fields quite a bit in the past.
I headed right to the soccer fields and started swinging.
After 1 1/2 hours into the hunt, finding the usual eaten up pennies, a few nickels and lots of pull tabs and can slaw, I hit an iffy target.
It was reading 14, 18 and 32 VDI from different directions at 2". As I was on my way out I decided to dig my last target.
I took my screw driver out, did a little probing and popped out a large piece of aluminum.
I got up and swept the hole and the MXT hit and read 14 VDI at 4". Thinking a nickel, I dug a plug and out pops this nice 10 K, 3 gram diamond engagement ring.
If you want the gold, you have to dig everything.
