Gold Fever Cache Hunting

Hello All,
Just a few questions for you Relic Hunters. I have a freind who's intrested in Metal Detecting specifically Cache Hunting. He has Gold Fever and is intrested in Finding Yamashita's Gold from WWII in the Philippines. I have no personal experience on land. I'm a beach hunter with Sovereign XS2a Pro but he's asked me for some help. Specifically Equipment and a good MD Dealer. He's has no experience in Metal Detecting at all!!! Any help would be appreciated. I've read about relic hunting articles mostly from Ed Federoy in W&E Treasure but that's about it... Best of luck to all and HH

Hi Art; He may find a cache with any number of the usual Treasure detectors, but if he's going to get serious, I would recommend either a Minelab GP 3000 or GP 3500; or a "two box" unit. He would probably find more smaller items with a GP and get excellent depth (say a cache of 3-10 larger gold coins at 3-4 feet) and of course a big cache could be found at greater depth. The two box unit is designed to find large cache's at great depth, but is subject to be difficult to maneuver over uneven ground and hard to detect rough places. I wouldn't be shy about using a Sovereign GT with a larger coil (stock 10" Sun Ray 12.5" or 15" WOT). A lot less money to get started. My Dad was stationed on Okinawa during the Korean conflict. With that and WW II, I imagine there would be an endless supply of quality relics to find, aside from the treasure. David,
Thanks for your reply I've read your post's on all the different forums and know that you have a great Reputation. I'll pass the info on to my freind. As for Okinawa it's Hunting Heaven Beach or Relic. I just got lucky and made freinds with a Detectorist 2yrs ago. Since then it's been "FUN". My freind with the gold fever will be Hunting the Jungles of the Philippines. Who know's nothing's impossible with this Hobbie ... Your welcome here anytime.

Hi Art; This is true; you never know. Covering a lot of ground has found more treasure than research. However, research will narrow down your search. Thanks for the invite; maybe someday Good hunting, David
