Gold earing

I was asked to try and find a gold earing. It isn't a ring but a stud with a diamond attached. It is not going to be deep as it was lost a couple of weeks ago and the owner has the area narrowed down to a few square yards. Both earings were lost at the same time and he found one by sight. Would I set sensitivity fairly low since it is likely to be on top? The area is a little trashy. Also, having found mostly coins and no gold, I wondered about using iron mask as the gold is mostly on the right half of the screen.

when you go back, get the other stud and place it on the ground and see what kind of reading you get... probabilly a very low foil like reading...
you might even want to use the learn feature... a couple of square yards and on top, should be easy as pie!!!

I was asked to find a stud earing just like the one you are after. I used my XS, sens30-manual, open screen, gain maxed. Could not get any signal from the other earing at all. Tried my XLT, opened up all the way, still nothing. Guess not enough metal to read. I got my tiny tech out and it would sound off if I touched the earing. I spent 1 1/2 hours drawing lines 1/2 inch apart in the area she said she saw it fall. When I found it I made her pick it up out of the grass. She could hardly see the 1/4 diamond stud with the tears in her eyes. I got to hunt the rest of the yard of the 1900's home, this time with the XS.

Regards from Algerio if the ring has not been found it is because not and past above with MD, the ring cannot be deep, in my website there is a 1800 gold ring it was deep 4" only.
It retries to pass with MD, wishes of good hunting from Algerio

If it were me I would check to see if I could get
a responce from the ring they have, if so I would
black out the whole screen in excpt. reject mode
then notch in(accept) the ring flat & on edge with
small cursor & power at less than 10 & then check
all responses. good luck

Rich has the right idea, do remember someone may
have stepped on it and drove it in the ground. Test the other earing and dig anything close to it. Low sensitivity is fine as it won't be deep...

Griding an area with a probe is pretty amazing. I will be adding that to my bag of tricks! Thanks for sharing.
