i have never done any metal detecting with a metal detector for coins ,jewerly or gold.however since the fishery closure is in force in our part of the world,i thought i would buy a gold detector and go and find a few nuggets to tide me over in the dry spell.it really can't be that hard, can it?be fore you all jump in,this is my brother-in-law talking,so any comments should be directed at the twit, not me.any forth coming comments i'll print out and hand to the know it all.thank you, blowfly

Gold nugget detecting is the most difficult type of detecting there is, you not only need to know how to operate you detector, you need to know where to look for gold, it is not evenly spread on top on the ground. Even the pros have difficultly finding gold at times. IMO you will make more $$ using your detector digging pennys and dimes.
