Gold Cube

I've heard so many good things about the gold cube. I actually just bought a recirculating gold buddy sluice from an old timer who found and i've seen lots of gold..... asked why he was selling the sluice and he said he bought a gold cube and didn't need this anymore.

I have had mine for over a year. As a result, I have stopped using my old sluices and reconfigured my approach to use slower water (and gold hog UR matting in a sluice with 8 mesh screen over the Gold Cube). It works well as long as you don't overwhelm it with too much water. I am using battery powered bilge pumps. I run it like a high banker. It works extremely well in Colorado (we have mostly small to fine gold here).

I am not excited about the attachment they made to turn it into a high banker - my issue is clogged up punch plate holes. It was easy (and less costly) to build my own addons to make it more like a high banker.

I have tried almost very type of clean up / concentrator contraption available (and some home-made things as well) .. Some of them work good , some not so good...

For me, The Gold Cube's performance is everything it claims to be (and even more) !
It is not cheap , and it is not small (compared to a pan or a gutter sluice )... But it is fast , and it can handle an impressive amount of feed rate.

It was designed as a concentrator , and that is its best application. There are some people that use the Cube as a primary recovery system, which can work, if you plan on feeding it with hand scoop.

In either application, the Cube will recover almost ALL of the gold that can be recovered by gravity separation.

I tested the my Cube's performance on 5 gallons of dredge concentrates (over 100 lbs), from which 12 grams of very fine gold was recovered. I then ran the same 5 gallons of material over my miller table, a very tedious 4-hour process ... And what did I get for 4-hours hunched over the Miller table ?? Nothing , nada , zip... not even a single spec of gold !!!
I was amazed to say the least, the Gold Cube had caught every thing that was there to be caught .

No system can claim 100% gold recovery, however the amout of gold that would escape the Cube process would not be worth be worth messing with.

If you can justify its expense , you will not be disappointed in its performance .

However, it

The Gold Cube is a gold concentrator. Takes a lot of concentrate and concentrates it even more. Kellyco appears to be the only forum sponsor that is a dealer for it. Price is on their website below.

Here is how I use my Gold Cube.

I dig out and concentrate with a 3/8 Green Garrett screen (washing all of the material off of bigger rocks) into a 5 gallon bucket.

The results are scooped to the top of some 8 mesh (1/8 th inch) hardware cloth material on top of the Gold Cube, then I pull out the water hose (which is 10 feet long on mine - I bought the hose from a marine supply shop) from the Gold Cube, and wash the 1/8 or less into the Gold Cube. Works great - Uses a few dollars worth of 8 mesh hardware cloth (hard to find - bee-keepers use it and you can order it from Amazon).

Just dump the screen when it gets full of small rocks. Makes for quick /cheap cleanups.

NOTE: I bring a stiff brush to force the air out of the vortex matting (as I wet it down) - it won't hold black sands and gold if its dry.

I'm using the gold hog mat (razorback) in a mini sluice and for me it's a heck of a lot better than the miners moss i had in there...... The gold cube which is a whole different item is another extremely good item but pricey
Welcome to the forum.

The Gold Cube has been one of my favorite pieces of gold prospecting equipment to date. I work in mostly wetland areas so the fact that it can retrieve gold from black sand is key for me - but I love the Cube because it works FAST. I've run up to a yard of material in about 2 hours. Also, it's extremely portable and small enough to fit into the trunk of my average car. I'd definitely recommend it.
