Hi, just had a hike through some trails near where I live ,one side are hills with slate outcrops the other is orange sandstone seperated by a creek .
just thinking is this a gold bearing area? what should I be looking for?..by the way I didn't have my exterra 70 with me,only my dog,(he knows nothing about gold!)

All you need now is to see some quartz and its game on. I have found heaps of gold where those two things you mentioned, along with the quartz, exist.
Other times its the old "salt n pepper" Quartz and Ironstone. Doesnt have to be big quartz either, many indicator loads are only mere inches wide and the quartz small. Look for ironstone outcrops and detect either side of them.
