Hi everyone.
I am thinking about buying either the Etrac or X705 (and extra coils for hitting an occasional nugget area IF I GET THE 705). I'm interested in learning more about the depth between these two models, and I know the Etrac is awesome with finding silver coins, but what about gold coins and gold jewelry?
Ex: old treasure, maybe a handful of gold or gold/silver mix coins buried deep, how deep does the Etrac punch in pasture soil? X705?
I Learned of a possible 'lost treasure' on my family's farm - back in the woods. So primarily I need treasure & coin. Wouldn't mind a machine that could hit shallow gold nuggets/flakes either. I'm not a serious nugget hunter, so could the Etrac do OK with occasional search for shallow nuggets? Or Deeper nuggets in not too trashy or extremely high mineralized soll? Could I pre-program gold flakes/nuggets from my area to help fine tune? If I spend extra $$ on the Etrac, it would be awhile before I could save for a gold detector, like a Gold Bug for nuggets - unless I find a used Gold Bug for sale.
Back to treasure - I'm sure some England Etrac users have found gold coins/relics deep, but how deep? I've been searching Youtube and online... still needing ideas. This treasure I will be looking for could be 3-5 ft and a small cache of possible gold/silver coins. Its old treasure and could have soil piled up from over the years.
Also, I'm not a totally complete newbie, have owned a Bounty Hunter for several years, and tired of all the trash digging!!! Still learning lots & I've admired Minelab for years and this would be my first Minelab Purchase.
- Want to go deep!!!
- Ease of use
-want great auto ground balance and discrimination
- I like the weight on the 705, but would build up my strength anyway swinging the Etrac all the time - well worth it if there's better % of good targets and not so much trash. ETRAC is better with trash right?
-LIke the 28 frequencies on the Etrac with less coil changes
-Etrac might be a little 'overkill' for me or a great detector to 'grow with'. hehe
Thank you in advance!
