Gold Coin?.........well, it looked like one!!

We've had some storms come through lately and although it was trying real hard to rain, I ventured out to a local park and along with finding a decent amount of coins including a good amount of quarters, I had a great sounding target under my coil.
Just below the surface, I saw this coin and wanted it to be a solid gold coin! but soon saw that it was a Mexican bi-metal coin. It looks like the City lawnmower chewed on it a bit!
I tend to be a positive thinker and I never rule out finding gold coins where I detect including trashy parks!. It was fun while it lasted and then the rain started coming down and I had to pack the gear up!
Happy hunting everyone and here's to having the best detecting year ever!!!

Ya gotta love those finds that get your heart racing, even if it's only for a few seconds

I remember the first Sacaqawea dollar I dug up at our local beach - sparkling new and man I though I had my first gold coin - anyway congrats to you on your find & thanks for sharing your post.

Dug up a Loonie once...In Kansas.
Also a few Mexican and other gold looking foreign coins here and there and every time I see a covered coin with a golden tone my heart skips a beat.
Not a real gold coin found for me yet but one day I hope to have better luck and be shocked for the right reasons.

Thanks guy's for your kind comments! Don't you love this hobby! I think of the rush I got from my first time or two out just finding a few coins and it's a great day when you find gold in any form! Happy hunting and look forward to seeing all your future finds here!

I dug one of those gold plated quarters. When I lifted the plug all I could see was the rim of the quarter and that pretty yellow color Yes my hands were shaking as I eased it out of the dirt Gently wiped some of the dirt off the coin and my elation disappeared in a hurry. Folks should not fool an old man like that It might cause one of us to have a heart attack.

Lol!!! Yes, but it's a rush at the time and what a way to die! lol! P.s. My avatar pic (gold ring) was 14.5 grams of 14K so you can imagine the rush I felt from that 'boat anchor' ring clanging around in my sand scoop!!!
