Gold coin readings on Excel

barber

New member
Really enjoyed the post on where coins , rings, and tabs read on the Excel.
Any info on gold coins?? I'm one of those that never found one in 30+ years, of course I might have notched out or ignored a tab sometimes that could have been ITTTT. I did get a gold 2 1/2 peso as prize at hunt once, haven't seen it in years so don't know what become of it-- they are really tiny.

a previous post of mine http://www.findmall.com/read.php?35,200353,200353#msg-200353

In the photo, the second from the right target, is a small gold medal in the shape of a gold coin. See the size as compared to the dime pictured, maybe about the size of your peso. Reads pretty durn low, ignore foil, ignore small gold coins.

BB, thanks for reply, I had read your post and saved the readings you posted. Yeah the little gold medal was about that size. There seems to be no getting around the fact, if you don't dig it you don't know what it was.
My previous Excel was the best detector I ever had, another one due Fedex today. Coins and tabs were right on everytime, this time I'll dig more iffy signals and see what happens. Once I had taken a Whites Pro ( the one with big meter ) in a coin shop, marked on meter where gold $5 hit, next time out I was showing detector to a buddy- before I could stop him he had reached down and cleaned meter for me !!! Don't remember what the reading was but it was same as broken tab end, theory was if you got that reading check depth, if shallow ignore and only dig deeper ones.

since he's about the only one to have actually dug 1......lord know's I have none to test with  I think my boy at the pawn shop might though.......

ask Tony to send it to me to run under my coil, I'm in charge of posting Excel gold responses. And I promise to take right good care of it, I'll even give it a prime spot on my mantle, and I won't even charge Tony a display fee for showing it off.

Barnaclebill, you didn't post your address, I have lots of other gold coins I would be happy to send to you for display, I'm sure others feel the same way. ;>)

But I thought it was just from the kidney stones!:yikes: You guys have taken on a new look while I was gone. I thought maybe I had stumbled into the wrong forum or something. With all the medication I've been taking, I have to move with caution. The pain pills seem to affect my short term memory. What was the question again?

It was in the "Fisher World Treasure news" & it's really worth a "Chunk 0 Change!" for real because there's no environmental damage at all. I hear he even did a "raindance" when he found it....something like stomping out a brushfire  Post it again raindancer for us gold coin challenged folks

I'll try to find out where it hits on the C$ and Excel as soon as I get it back. See,......I sent it down to Texas to get it cleaned. There's this guy down there that has the stuff called aluminum jelly. He's gonna tumble it, and then shine it up for me. I think he's putting some gold coin cleaning kits together to sell too. I know some of ya'll think I'm nuts, but I found out that the coin wasn't even worth a T-shirt on another forum. I'm thinking about trading it for a CW period scabbard tip, since they are worth so much more.:wiggle:

Since that coin is dated before "Lincoln's War of Northern Agression"...all's you had to do to impress the minions was to say it "wuz dug in a confedorite campsight!"
Ya....see? Then you would have got your Dumpo Tee-shirt! EASY.....
I'd like a Dumpo tee just to paint one a them big circles with a slash through it. Then says "banned for life" :thebird: Heck, I did silkscreening in college, so maybe I'll have to do that.... ;)
Was the brushfire dance like this?? :hot:

IH in the link I posted under Bill's Indian. That was a neat color for an Indian Head penny.
