well i've never found any gold coins yet but i was wondering if anybody here that uses tesoro has? where the disc level that they disc out at or if they are simalr to silver or maybe nickels?

Javelin, I haven't FOUND any gold coins to date, but have a few that were prizes from competition hunts. The smallest 1/10 oz (about dime sized) fade out around the nickel setting or just past. The larger ones a 1/4 eagle and a 1/2 oz eagle are solid up to around a pull tab and gone by the zinc penny setting. This was determined by waving them flat, in front of the coil (air). In the ground, on edge etc. may give different results.
Hope this is useful,
BB

On my machine a one dollar Indian hit around 22 and a nickle hits at 30 so it sees it as foil.
Now if at a old site i will did some foil hit with fingers crossed . No luck yet
But the fact that thy were so small and easy to lose and the fact that many skip foil targets leaves some hpoe.

If you've ever read "The Detectorist" you would wonder why use an ID. There's one page that has where metal objects ID in relation to trash and it's worth the price of the book.
