Last Sunday Dave stopped by the house after having stayed in the water 2 hours longer than me and hands me a gold ring a gold coin that he said he was just going to throw it away because he thought it was part of a champagne top cover.I took one look at it and said you found a gold coin but I'll have to do some research to find out what kind. With the age of the stuff we have found at this spot we often said that there should be at least one gold coin around but never figured it would date from 1763-1779. I took it to work and it weighs and measures right. It's a Venetian Ducat and here are the pics and a link that better describes what it is. Still going to have an expert check it out but looks good so far
