Gold chains are tough..

Unless you read the medallion or the chain is in a ball. All comes down to physical make up of a chain as the links seem to cancel themselves out and make them hard to detect..I would suggest all metal or a P.I. machine if you have the back to dig a lot of junk and probably applicable to beaches and water hunting..As far as Disc. mode old Tesoro units with zero disc. seemed to be the best from my experience...

Dan the Shadow X3/X5 and the Tesoro Tejon are the best detectors that discriminate that Ive ever seen for small chains. Ive found more small gold in general with both of these series and jewelry is what I primarily hunt for. You might want to try either of those if your after the super thin/small stuff and still be able to knock out smaller iron.

The F75 sounds like its a hot one also but havent used it.......yet.

But never used the units and my judgement comes from units I have used, and seriously doubt if they would be any better than an older Tesoro vintage late 80's and early 90's...at least for a unit in Disc...of course most units in all metal do well with them also...
