GOLD CHAIN AND A GUN!!!!

Along with the usual handful of clad from the beach yesterday, my heart skipped a beat when I detected the chain.........but it turned out it was just plated..........ah well...better luck next time!! I also got this gun which is a laser pointer and a cigarette lighter! I burned my finger when I pulled back on the hammer OUCH!!) I should have realised it was a lighter as well as a laser pointer!!!! I'm just glad, a little kid didn't find it and hurt himself, I don't smoke so it won't get used much!!......HAPPY FATHERS DAY EVERYONE AND HAPPY HUNTING !!!!!!

did you check the chain to see if its gold over silver?check well with a loop for 925

What makes you so sure it is plated?

[size=medium]Thanks for your responses! I used to have an antique store so I'm used to handling gold and silver items. So when I don't see any marks ( I always use a loop) and see subtle wear marks on edges exposing base metal and although it's almost the weight of gold, the wear marks are always give-aways to what it is. Nevertheless....always when I dig gold colored objects, the old ticker gets pumping overtime!!!!!!
Don't ya just love this hobby (although I think it's an obsession now!! but please don't tell my wife).[/size]
