Gold Bug Pro vs Gold Bug 29'er

I've got both and am finding it difficult to tell the difference between them performance-wise. They both hit hard on silver and they've both found jewelry. If it were you would you keep both and if not, which one would you let go?

If you don't notice any difference between the two for your type of hunting, get rid of the 29'er. It should bring a litter higher price as fewer were made, and there are always a few folks willing to pay a little more for a detector that promises a little more performance even if the extra performance is only a "perceived" performance increase.

Take both machines and test them on the same target, say a 8 inch nickle.
Turn the the gain down until you loose the target on each machine.
Keep the one that hits at the lowest gain setting, its the hotter one.
Good luck!

Interesting Godidit. I'll give that a try. I assume that an airtest is the type of test you're suggesting - correct?

In the ground in your soil would be the best place. In my soil a 8 inch nickel is no problem at full sens. The reason I keep my 2.0 is it beats my G2 in this test. The G2 starts loosing it at 50%. The 2.0 gets it down to 15% gain. But I hunt the G2 unless prospecting as it is more refined and comfortable in the trash.

Good Luck!

Hi Barryman,

Please let us know how things work out with your tests!

Best
