Gold Bug Pro Struttin In The Trash

My Gold Bug Pro with its 5 inch DD coil attached was weaving in and out of the trash today like a Bantam Rooster after a young hen. I tried using the 11 DD coil, but I had to put it back in the car, because the trash was too thick. I found 7 Wheat Pennies, 1940, 1942, 1950, 3 x 1951, and a 1953. I was trying for a silver quarter today, but I ended up with a 1923 Mercury Dime instead. The Mercury Dime and Wheat Pennies were all around 4 1/2 to 5 inches deep. I had the sensitivity set to the max and the tone break at '40'. I got in about 4 and half hours of detecting before calling it quits.

For all those people who don't have a 5 inch DD coil, you don't know what you're missing. It's my favorite coil.

tabman Nice hunt silver is allways nice to see!

There is one small park in a small town that I have been wanting to hunt but haven't had the time. I will use the 5" and go after the silver when I can get over there. This park has been there for decades and has seen lots of people, especially teens playing football and horsing around, I will have to go after certain numbers hoping for a high school ring....HH

The5" DD stays on my G2, ad when I want a little more site coverage I swap to the 5X10. Those two coils serve my needs the best, ad the 5"DD can definitely pick through the trash. I use that coil on my Omega as well.

Monte

PS: Congrats on the older coins, and a nice silver coin to help get he year started, too!

Hey Monte.....Is the 5x10 DD or concentric? I've been off the forums for several months so I'm trying to catch up on what's going on.

Tabman: how does your GB Pro compare to your Tesoros as a general purpose coin and jewelry machine?

If I'm looking in an area that is super heavy in trash and I'm primarily looking for clad and silver coins or silver jewelry, I grab the Gold Bug Pro with the 5 inch DD coil. It has fantastic separation and really good depth. Nothing that I've ever used works better at that task. Period http://www.findmall.com/read.php?80,1609366

It also makes a great relic machine that goes deep for lead and buttons If you put a 11 inch DD coil on it. Slap the 10 inch coil on it and you have a great detector for finding micro gold jewelry. Let's not forget that Gold Bug Pro is a gold detector.

I have both the G2 and GB Pro. I'm selling one of them, because they are identical, except for the rod configuration. I don't need two.

Now if I'm out for some real fun, I grab a Tesoro.:) It's hard to explain. They work and work very well at finding the good stuff at most sites.
