Gold Bug on the salt water beach video

OK guys n gals....this is my first attempt ever at making a video. All I can say is kudos to all those who make these and post them for us to enjoy and learn from, because it's pretty hard to do...at least by yourself it is !

I did not have my sand scoop, and could not use headphones so you can hear the detectors sound. Hopefully the sound isn't too washed out due to the waves and wind.

Bear in mind I have less than 2 total hours of hunting time on the Gold Bug, and since I am on vacation at my beach house, all the time was in the dry and wet sand. I am starting to learn where certain targets ID and how the machine reacts when moving from the dry to semi-wet to wet sand. At this point, all I can say is that this machine really works well on the beach.

Thanks for the video. I noticed that yoru ground phase remains fairly consistent and doesn't jump all over the place like mine did. Interesting!

The ground balance and ground phase was between 0 and 1 for both in the wet sand, about 20-22 in the semi wet and about 35-40 in the dry...with a few areas a bit higher. But it did remain consistent and very stable, and when the detector did act up a bit in discriminate mode, all I had to do was re-ground balance and it ran smooth again.

I did find that in the wet sand, using the ground grab, it balanced a tad negative, so all I did was hit the + button a few times and it balanced out even.

especially by yourself...Like that you show in the video just how well the GB can handle the wetsalt beach...I am seeing the samw hear in my harsh N.GA. minerals... It's like I am hearing targets that other machine should of heard but they just could not...

Thanks for the video , nice job.
I would love to see / hear of the GB against a CZ in wet sand on small gold.
I know thy are completely different animals and the CZ should take it hands down
but the fact that the GB is running smooth in the wet and is made for small gold
could give the CZ a run for the money .
 
I have strong doubts that it would take it hands down. As far as gold jewelry, the CZ would behind. I have never had a CZ that gets the depth the Gold Bug SE does, and I have sold a lot of them in the past. Having to run the CZ in the salt mode, cuts into the gold jewelry sensitivity a lot.

It won't replace the CZ, there two different animals. Very tough to compare heads up.

You should go give one a try, (Gold Bug SE), you would be pleasantly surprised.

Mr Bill i will be calling you as soon as i move some detectors from the closet.:biggrin:

One question for you . Is First Texas changing the rules or are there just misconseptions about detectors.
I.E i always hear a single Freq machine cant run / compete with multi Freq machines in wet sand.
and higher Freq machines lose depth in hot ground but yet the gold bugs were made for hot ground.

Generally the multifreq. units do well on the salt beach's. Single freq. units can also do well, depending on there design.

Ground balance is just a form of discrimination. When you ground balance, you discriminate out a part of the earth. If your detectors ground balance range will go up to the salt range, you can GB it out. On some single freq. units it's just a matter of adjusting the discrimination control to cancel out salt.

The same on the detectors transmit frequency. A lot has to do with circuit design. At one time they were up over 100 KHz. It's not un-common today to find them at 3.5 KHz. I use a salt water detector, single frequency, at 3.5 HZ. It works for me. :shrug:
