Gold Bug on a salt water beach - Part 2

Got back out at low tide for about 1/2 hour. Since most of the people on my beach were up near the dunes during the morning, I started there just to see what may transpire. After 2 bottle caps, I headed to the wet sand.

Settings were gain at max ( 100 ) discriminating at 18.

The 3 quarter and nickel were about 10 inches down. Quarters ID'd 85-86, nickel at 56. Two quarters and the nickel were found in the wet sand as the water was running up onto it...about 1-2 inches. One quarter was found in the suds in about 7-10 inches of white water, and I could have hunted more but didn't have any protection on the control box. Plus, had to be careful about the water dripping off the scoop. There is NO mistake in how these targets sounded. Clear, sharp, short high tone.

The fishing swivel was in the 46-50 range.

The two pieces of iron I dug in all metal, and when I switched to discrimination mode, they were blips and broken low tones. The bigger piece ID'd in the high 50's on the arc, and the rusty nail in the 40's but what was interesting was the Fe bars were going up as I passed the coil over it. Since this beach is void of iron mineralization, I wonder if I can tell some iron targets in all metal based on the Fe reading ? I didn't check the coins in all metal but now that I think of it, I am going to test that tomorrow and see what the Fe meter read on them.

Mind you, I have about an hour tops on this unit, but I think once one starts to check the readings on the Fe, Ground balance and ground phase in all metal, you may begin to learn more about the target.

Hunting in discriminate mode in the wet sand is super quiet, with occasional click or longer, washed out low tone when the waves passed over the coil or when the coil hit the sand fairly hard, but you know it's not a good target. You can't mistake that sharp, clear high tone sound. Especially when you start to sweep the coil faster and in shorter, quicker sweeps.

Taking it South for a trip with a friend early tomorrow and plan to use it for at least an hour or two. Hunting for big silver, so the CZ6a will get first bat, and since I can beat that thing up a bit, I don't worry as much.

Will post more pics as the week progresses but so far with the limited time I have on it, I like this machine A LOT.
