gold bug dp coil question

nipper1

New member
Hi, after a new coil for my Gold Bug DP and was looking at the n-e-l Hunter coil 8.5x12.5 for the G2. Would this fit the Gold Bug ok?

Thaks in advance, nipper

If the question is about "fit", GB Pro and plain vanilla GB have the same searchcoil connector.

If the question is about the performance of the searchcoil in question, since we don't make it I can't answer that question, you'll have to contact the manufacturer.

I ment the Teknetics G2 not the GB2. I know these machines are nearly identical. Was wondering if the above coil would fit and work on the goldbug dp?

Yes, it will fit and work well on a Gold Bug Pro, it is slightly larger than the original "DP" coil.................. better still it is water proof.

The 11DD is water proof as well! but is a bigger coil what you want for a machine that shines in the separation department? Or two machines one gold laser scalpel and one deep seeking silver hog! LOL

Book mention waterproof, reality is different..........Above water the coils worked fine.............Unfortunately these two coils both took in water at shallow like 6" depth.

Hi, this is why im in the market for another coil, my stock coil starts falsing if I go anyehere near water.....anyone using the N-E-L coil on their bug?

nipper

My favorite coils on the Gold Bug Pro.
I use the big coil in open spaces and the smaller one in grassy parks, sandy play grounds and when prospecting river beds and banks.

As indicated when park hunting the 10x5"DD is sweet.........but when wet sand beach hunting a different tool is preferable.

Search you tube there are tests of the nel coils there. Looks good but personally I trust the coils designed by the guy who made the machine for optimal performance!!!!
I have two 11 dd coils A 5 and 5x10 all have been in the water to the control box no problems, Sorry you have had bad luck with yours ivanIl. But its like you said you want a different tool there meaning multi frequency for best performance at the beach .

Nothing wrong with the later or new Fisher coils where the lid is properly sealed, like my F75 it's fine and have not leaked when submerged in water.
It's only the early nameless Fisher look alike coils issued with the Gold Bug Pro that was as waterproof as a sieve and Warranty  ???................... on this side of the border.................:stretcher:

Dont get me wrong I love the stock coil, its just the falsing if I get it wet. I see these N-E-L coils have a good following and quite fancy one.

One of the 11"DD coils that ivanll posted a pic of was mine. Supposedly waterproof, I sunk it and machine went into overload. I dried the coil out in the oven and it worked again. I sealed it up properly and it was fine after that.

My T2 11" coil has been sunk and no issues.

The T2 has a different style of sealing on the cap to the sealing on the Gold Bug.
