Gold bug at the river..

:stretcher:I took my gold bug to the river today were their is gold. I took my biggest peice of gold with me to test it out in a few diffrent spots. First I GB the machain and got it set up to about 45 gain, and O in thershold. It would barly get 2 inches in depth on the peice of gold.. If anyone is going to buy a detector for gold.. I earge you not to by a fisher. They suck balls. Also with the hot rocks it has no brain to cancel them out what so ever. ( ) <-------------- That was about the size of my gold nugget I brought today. I could see if I was able to get five or six inches, but 2 at most and it has no way to tell the diffrence between hot rocks and the gold. It makes the same sound , and the bar on top of the screen wont move unless the coil is put right on top of the gold nugget. Its the slowest peice of crud. it needs some help. It can still get a good target on nails, bottle caps, wire, but gold no way, its the worst. Its like its got a block on it for gold. WTF.... Some of the singels i did practicing on my gold, it would even miss on some swings. I just don't have time to mess with this test dummy detector....

:surrender: < --------the gold was about as big as the circle smile face... I talked to fisher a bit ago and they are going to check out my machaine. They said it might be a GB issue. I also told Mike Scott from fisher, that the ground i was in had black sand everywere.. I could see little piles on top of white sand in quite a few places... I didn't mean to get upset but, The gold I had didn't get a good reading at all.. With other metal, such as bottle caps ( I found a few of them today..) Could be detected very good. It was kinda like the gold went silent for the most part...Just a complaint I have.

...You can talke the best VLF Gold machine out there...say you think the Whites GMT is top balls. Put a couple grain nugget on TOP of the black sand and you will be lucky if you get a couple inches.
Now bury it 2" in black sand and forget it.
VLF's usually stinkola in heavy black sand which is why we use a PI detector in those cases as they see through the black sand.
Look...there is alot of bad ground in gold country that kills the depth on gold. If you took that same nugget and buried it in soft white sand it would get better depth.
Black sand kills any depth and a;lways will on any VLF PERIOD.....some worse than others but..IT KILLS EM ALL.
I can take you to ground in Az that looks o.k....take a 5 grain nugget place it on the ground and you won't detect it with any machine...even the GoldTraxx would not see it.

It wasent even just the black sand. I could lie it on a rock and it would get the same reading.... I even tried it on a crack on bed rock and it barley got a reading what so ever. Even in my front yard with soil about 62-69 its the same. Moreover, with that small peice of gold i did the video on the bigger peice is about the same depth..... This thing has no boost, or iron mask to help it out what so ever. I think its just a normal fisher detector with a small coil put on it.........

Not only that Azsh07 but it would get a good reading on bottle caps, nails, and other metal in the same ground.... That is my complaint. (Why would it get good singles on other metals, but not on my gold) Can you explain that to me? You guys were saying if you can get a single on some metals you should get good singles on gold, but Im not even getting a good reading on gold at all... :drinking:

You know after futher thought, The sands were pretty rich in sand..... I have been down to the river with my slucie box about 4 times and have found some nice color. Im new to prospecting and have had some fun and exercise as well.... My biggest concern is why dose a small soda top get better readings than a peice of gold that weighs almost twice as much? Plus when i went out yesterday, the river must have droped 5 to 10 feet from its previces spot, and the crevices were packed and the gold hunting areas were looking good....You should see my videos on youtube panning and detecting.. The river from my last video is so diffrent. I did however find more nails and crud like cans, wire, and stupid foil so small its pitifulll.... Im posting a air test video in about 50 min.... Plus why don't people on fisher chat do more chating about their detectors? Or show more finds that they get..

My Gold Bug (Cabellas) is also sensitive to Gold, however, if the Gold flakes are
mixed in with the black sand then it will be hard to detect. If you have found the black
sand then there's a fair chance you will find the Gold by panning for it.

Diddo, if you find a black sand deposit, you may not find a nugget, but you should pan that deposit out for the fine gold. My two bits! I identfied an area that I wouldn't normally pan with the Gold Bug SE. Got lots of fines.
