After doing some reading here on this site and other places with coils that can be used on the Gold Bug SE / Pro / G2 I looked at the idea in more detail.
I was looking to see if the F5 coils would also work. After doing some research on it I found that some dealers had the F5 coils listed as working with the Gold Bug, these being the 11" DD and the 5" DD. So, with this in mind, I asked myself if these coils work, what about the stock coil that comes with the F5, this being the standard 10 inch elliptical concentric open-center search coil. I had one small problem though. My F5 coil had the push in type connector and not the screw type. I solved that by purchasing a 5 pin female screw connector and changed the plug on the lead of the standard 10 inch elliptical concentric open-center search coil that came with the F5.
Now, to get this all to work I had to do some research on the way the plugs where wired, it was a simple job, but I am not going to go into details here on how to do it, all I can tell you is that it works on the Gold Bug Pro that I have.
All I need now is for winter here in New England to get out of town and allow the snow and ice to melt so I can go out and play at the weekends and when I get home early from work during the week.
It seems that the North East of the USA is the Proverbial Toilet Bowl of late -- it keeps getting dumped on !!
