Gold Bug and depth

Now it is not the deepest detector out there but it can hold its own.
Went out with a bud ,detecting today and he said he was reading posts of the GB and lack of depth.
Now i have ID a target that was a clad dime at 9 inches.
Today i got a soft but repeatable target and started to dig.
and found this air rifle pellet at beyond the 6 inch mark. Past the tape line on my Garrett pro pointer speaker .
It works for me in my mild soil. HH Mike

That's real decent depth for something that small. It has the depth where Most of the targets are located. Some say it's just not quite as sensitive to higher conductors such as silver coins,etc...Also I have read reports where others say it's hit silver on the average depth but doesn't hit quite as hard like on the lower conductors. Some of it still has to do with the ground, the position it's in, local trash, moisture and other variables plus operator skills, coil size and detector setup and Maybe even headphones..But,the GB is a 19 KHZ detector so that also plays a part to a certain degree.
What size coil was on the GB when the pellet was found? 6 inches depth is still good depth for something That small and that's why it will probably do Great for finding tiny jewelry especially with a small coil!

I had 11 inch coil in Disc mode with Disc at 35 and it was hitting around 58ish right in the Nickle range
With max Senc that i run most of the time.

Deapth on low conductors of small size is great with the Gb G2. Like your pellet I have hit several small peices of lead at deapths that were impressive and we have hot soil here. One that impressed me was a peice of shot about 1/8 inch in diameter at 5 inches. I have both a gold bug and g2 and yesterday I tested the g2 with the 5 inch coil on a nickel I burried at 8 inches about 2 months ago. It was not a loud response but very diggable and the Id was better than with my 11dd for some reason.

godigit one of two things come to mind with better id in hot soil with small coil
1 there is something in the soil near the Nickle and the big coil is seeing it.
2 the fact that soil is hot and the large coil is seeing a much larger volume of the soil.

Great points Gmanlight.
I cleaned the test area of metal so it must be the larger volume of soil. Mostly red clay!

godigit you my benefit from the new 10 x 5 inch coil that's coming out.
In your soil you probably not lose much dept but the volume of soil it sees vs the 11 coil would be a fair amount.
Most likely giving a improver ID
