The GB 11 is so hot that it might be tough in a park or the like
hitting hard on the foil and every thing Else

C'mon, guys, when it comes to the GB2, "depth" is the wrong question, "how tiny" is the right question. There's no straight answer to the depth question anyhow.

It was designed first and foremost to find tiny shallow stuff. It does that exceptionally well. Intended for gold prospecting only. It's the wrong machine for any other purpose.

One other good use that the Gb II shines at is almost prospecting and fits in line with the tiny shallow stuff. That is micro jewelry hunting on the dry sand areas of the beach. It is capable of hitting a small diamond stud at 3 inches where most machines if even capable of detecting it will only see it at a inch or so. Nasa Tom uses this for that and swears by its ability as the best Micro jewelry hunter on the market bar none. So not trying to disagree with the Man but this is almost prospecting anyways. On the Dankowski forum he has some interesting #s as to jewelry % lost and most is micro jewelry.

I have used my GBII (6.5 elliptical) in a very trashy 1920's established park. It'll scream on a pull-tab and pinpoint it better than any detector I've owned... ha. It will find coins but it absolutely freaks out on all the trash. I'd recommend a digital machine with good discrimination for coins, etc. I just received a used GB Pro (5" coil) from ebay via UPS today for use as a crossover. $420. Very impressed at first glance and some basic backyard testing on nuggets. Not quite as sensitive as my GB II but easier to ground balance and nice to see readouts...
