Gold Bug 2

i have and it rocks but i liked the eureka gold better for beach hunting ,,hope that helped

Hi Jlw,
I have tried it once for coins and relics. I went to an old house in search of coins/rings or anything of value. The only metal detector I had at the time was my fisher bug-2.
Here is my honest feeling about it. The machine itself does great at finding metal. The bad thing about this machine for this use is it will find metal down to a 1/10th of a grain! So every single little metal shaving, bird shot, piece of aluminum foil or whatever tiny itsy bitsy piece of metal it comes across will be picked up.
There is no need to be detecting all this tiny rubbish when the smallest thing you will be searching for is what, a dime or ring? I honestly feel that a cheap coin/relic detector would work better for you.
Gus-

Gus is 100% right on when it comes to using the GB-2 for Coin, Jewelry and Relic Hunting. If you don't mind digging 100's of trash targets, then it is GREAT, but the lack of variable discrimination does not make it a good choice.
If you want a machine for Gold, Coins, Relics, Jewelry...and are on a budget, get a never model detector with mid range kHz in the 14 or above range.
I have found a ton of cool stuff with the GB-2, but I bet I dug up 10x that much of junk.

JLW- Look on Thomas Dankowski's website for a great write-up on beach hunting for micro jewelry w/GBII. Can't remember the name of it but it shouldn't be too hard to find, look on left side of his main page for a number of informative articles.
