Gold Bug 2 Vs. Lobo ST:detecting:

Any one out there have the opportunity to compare a Gold bug 2 with a LST side by side on nugget finding? What did you see between them? Thanks.

Many years back I was planning to get into nugget hunting here in Arizona. I visited local prospecting shops and talked to a lot of old timers about their recommendation on a good gold nugget machine. At that time the high dollar Minelab gold machines were very popular and well written about in many magazines. Almost everyone I talked to here in Arizona recommended the LOBO ST. They said for the money it was the best out there, ............FOR ARIZONA DETECTING! Fishers gold machine seemed to be real popular back east at that time, and I was told they were the best choice for the soils back east, but not for Arizona. The Minelabs I was told were of course very good, but again, unless you really wanted to spend a lot of time fine tuning, ....... more difficult to use in the Arizona outdoors.

Bottom line both machines were considered very good, but where the detecting was going to be done seemed to be a factor according to all the guys I spoke with.

I bought a LST, but never got to to nugget hunting. I did use it locally in parks many times however, and found lots of gold jewelry,.......some very small. I really liked the simplicity of the LOBO ST, and of course Tesoro's warranty is second to none.

I have owned both, actually all three, GMT GB and Lobo ST. I live in Quartzsite Az. and they all work well here. If it wasn't for the weight I would prefer the GMT, but it gets a little heavy after a while The Lobo is good but I like the GB a little better because of the manual ground bal and the discriminator.. IMO the GB is the most sensitive on very small shallow pieces of gold and the GMT is a hair deeper and the Lobo is the most versatile. You can't go wrong with any of them. The MXT is also a very good nugget hunter and very versatile. There probably has been more gold found in this country with the Gold Bug than any other detector.
