gold bug 2 versus garrett cx plus which is better for gold?

The Gold Bug.
You are looking at the wrong Garrett Machine. A better question would be to ask about the Scorpion compared to the Gold Bug. That I can't answer, but I suspect that they would be similar in overall performance.
Mick Evans.

Well, now that can be a matter of opinion.:wiggle:The Gold Bug2 will find very tiny nuggets at a shallow depth much better than the CX Plus. However, the CX Plus WILL absolutely find much larger gold nuggets at much greater depth than the Gold Bug 2.;) CX Plus has an excellent automatic ground balance or manual whichever you prefer, whereas the Gold Bug 2 has only manual ground balance. The Gold Bug2 is a dedicated gold machine that is not really great for other metal detecting uses. The CX Plus is a general purpose metal detector that can also be used for prospecting.
Now, the Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger is a dedicated gold machine that is also a great coin/jewelry hunting machine. Yeah, the Gold Bug 2 will find smaller(sub grain) nuggets at shallow depths than the Scorpion. However, the Scorpion will find half gram/match head/ BB sized nuggets deeper than the Gold Bug 2. I guarantee.
Best of luck to ya, whichever machine you choose.:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)
