Gold Bug 2 or Gold Bug Pro for gold in Colorado?

I am torn between the Gold Bug Pro and Gold Bug 2. This will be used to find gold only and mostly tiny gold not too deep in highly mineralized soil. I am looking to do some prospecting (on this the GB2 wins based on what I have read due to it's 70khz freq and not too much iron) but I will also be detecting for gold in some mine tailings and here I have heard that I'll be digging a lot of trash with the GB2 and less with GB pro (but I am not sure about that since some of this could be tied to usage issues).

Is the GB2 way more sensitive to small gold than the GB2 or just something like 10 to 25% more sensitive? Will I be better off with the GB Pro even though it is less sensitive since I will be digging fewer trash targets?
 
The GB2 is a bit more sensitive to very small (smaller than one grain) gold, but the Pro is deeper than the 2 on larger targets. Most of the time I use the Pro.

Is the GB2 just a bit more sensitive or significantly more? Where do you search?
 
The GB2 will find a smaller speck of gold than the Pro. Over 1 grain about the same. The Pro is deeper than the GB 2 on Nuggets over one or two DWT and I think the Pro handles mineralization better. You can't go wrong with either one. I live and hunt in Az in the winter. In the summer Montana, sometimes Nev. and Calif.
 
I have been researching this here and a number of other places and heard from a few users who have used both for looking for small gold and also heard from the designer (see my post in the head to head MD comparison section in Treasurenet.com forums) of the GB2 and GB Pro. It looks like the GB pro is slightly better at avoiding junk and in some situations able to search deeper but on the other hand the GB2 is much (not just a little) better at noticing small gold so it looks like that's way to go for the areas I tend to visit.

I checked out some leads I have on used GB2s.....and also got prices from the various sources on-line including Craig's list and Ebay but decided to go new because the price break wasn't enough to be worth not having a full five year warranty.
 
The GB2 is not "MUCH" better at finding small gold, it will just find a smaller piece and not by by much. The amount of small gold you will find with a GB2 that a GB Pro won't find won't' pay for your batteries, but the larger pieces you may miss with the GB 2 could pay for a new detector. JMO

The consensus among the people who had and used both models here in Colorado as well as the designer of the GB2 and GBP differ on that. They felt for small gold there was a substantial difference. I wish I could have tried both personally but I could find anyone with a GBP locally.
 
The problem always is in how much is much? What one person thinks is a small difference is huge to another.

I have both the Gold Bug Pro and the Gold Bug 2. The gold I find with my Gold Bug 2 that my Gold Bug Pro misses weighs less than a grain and is generally found at an inch or less by scrubbing the 6" coil on the soil. That said, I have found thousands of nuggets this way that my Gold,Bug Pro would miss. I am not exaggerating when I say thousands. I have been using the Gold Bug 2 since it came out and the Gold Bug Pro also. My last outing with my Gold Bug 2 got me over 200 nuggets weighing just over a half ounce total.

The basic thing is that no normal metal detector will find a smaller gold nugget than a Gold Bug 2 with a 6" coil. Whatever detector you use, you can always figure a Gold Bug 2 has a shot at finding some small stuff you missed. So if I am ever anywhere that someone has found gold I always ask if they have had a Gold Bug 2 over the ground yet, and if they have not, I am nearly 100% certain gold remains for me to be found.

So if I hammer a spot with my Gold Bug Pro the fact is I cannot consider the spot done unless I hit it again with the Gold Bug 2. I don't know how to make it any clearer than that. In deeper ground I would also consider the reverse to be true as the Gold Bug Pro penetrates deeper on half gram and larger gold. That is why I have both and would recommend that people do the same.
