gold bug 2 extra cable

Where should the extra cable be wound on the shaft? I say low by the coil my brother has his up at the top by the box. Does it make a difference. Thanks for the help, he has found 4 pieces of quartz with gold, I am staring a collection of square nails. Tom

i rap mine up the top just easier that way no science involved for me.

I think the main consideration is that its wrapped snuggly around the shaft; top or bottom without alot of slack cable along the shaft. I make sure that first wrap near the coil has little or no slack and then snuggly wrap it on up with velcro strips. Loose coil when I hunt with my hip mount gets in the way.
