Going to try water hunting and need advice

I hope to retire this June, God willing and my Dear One and I hope to do SOME traveling. She loves the beach and my tolerance is limited to about 6 minutes (cumulatve).
I'm a recent returnee to the hobby after a 30+ year hiatus. I currently have a C$, an ID Edge, and a Minelab Exp II (the C$ and Exp2 are "previously loved" machines). The Exp II is my most recent trade, so I'm still at the bottom of the learning curve with it, BUT it may well be my favorite pretty quickly.

My question is: What would you veteran water hunters recommend as a MID-level entry machine for searching wet sand and shallow surf. I won't be diving (unless a wave hits me the wrong way). I almost always buy/trade used machines, but if there's a good reason, I can save my egg money for a new machine.
ADVICE?
Thanks in advance,
Tagamet

THESE ARE ALL GOOD WATER DETECTORS. I USED THE BEACH HUNTER ID ON OVER 100 HUNTS THIS YEAR MOST HUNTS WERE 5 TO 6 HRS LONG HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT. GOT ME LOTS OF GOLD!!

Hi Tagamet, I use the EX11 for land and beach. I don't hunt "in" the water so the EX11 is awesome!!! It works great on dry and wet sand. I can move from dry sand right on down to wet sand and into water without any adjustments necessary. It holds a great threshold no matter what. So, if you don't need a dedicated water machine, your EX11 will work very very well at the beach for you. If you go into the water, lakes etc.. then Beach Hunters suggestions would be better for you. Good luck out there.

Don't go with a PI for dry and wet sand you will find too much junk.. PI is great in water but I won't hunt dry/wet sand with one... Get a minelab or a Whites beachhunter.. If cost is a problem I think that takes out the Minelab because they are pricey.. Just my 2 cents :)

If you don't plan on falling down, any land detector will work if you stay out of the wet sand. For waters edge a det. with a salt mode like a Tesoro Tiger Shark, CZ20 or Excal 1000. The last two are $$$ but well worth it. Whites Beach Hunter II I didn't care for as the coil got moved all over the place in the waves and you only get the 8 inch coil. With the Tesoro you can change coils and a 18 inch clean sweep was available and can still be found.
