Going to South Beach in January, Excal 11 or Pulse ?

Going to do 2 days of water hunting at South Beach, Florida in January. My question is which detector should I take? The Excal II or the HH Pulse ? I am hoping to find some gold, but haven't done any water hunting there before & really don't know what to expect with regards to the amount of junk in the water and whether I need the pulse. Any opinions or advice would be appreciated.

I went to South Beach for one day this summer and took a Pulse machine. I found myself wishing that I had brought my Excal instead because of the ammount of hair pins. That being said, the pulse worked great at other beaches a bit further north. I know other people do well there with a pulse, but I did not, at least at the time when I was there. Too much junk.

If you take a pulse machine, be prepared to dig a ton of junk targets.

So, I'm not going to help much picking one or the other. A month ago when I went to Florida for a week, a little bit north of where you are headed, I packed both an Excal and a HH Pulse. I was glad I had both.
