Going to make a battery pack for my Sovereign XS and need help.

Short a nimh or nicad pack and it isn't exactly going to be a fun experience either. ALL rechargable batteries run the risk of fire if they are shorted. Incidently, I've had more nimh or nicad packs go nuclear on me while I've never had a bad lipo experience. The very way nimh or nicad packs are built makes them more prone to shorts for one thing. The balance plug on a lipo also makes things more safe, where as it's very possible to overcharge some cells in a nimh or nicad pack without a complete drain down every so often before charging.

And good point Kered...The 1.2V per cell listed for nimhs/nicads is an AEVERAGE. A good nimh or nicad charges and holds a much higher voltage than that. So long as it's a high capacity the store shelf battery will have less voltage during run time than a nimh or nicad above about 2500ma.
