does anybody here hunt in Italy I will be going on business February 22 to March 7 mostly Naples and Gieta(not sure of spelling)would like to know about beach rules and maybe meet up with someone knowing the area

Hello, ron, I and Luca Ridarelli are friends, the beach of gaeta is much beautiful one, even if many persons with metal us already have been, however there are many small calette and is a beautiful place .In beach and in the sea not there are problems to try with the metal. nunziom62
ps. i live near rome in italy

I will be flying into Rome and then continue on to Gaeta the next day. I don't know if I'll have time to hunt I will be on board a ship most of the time. Not sure which machine to take, the Excal or the HH Wader.

The excalibur it works very well, same I to August have used it two times to Gaeta.Se you preview to have time contact to me for e_mail and if I can we meet hello nunzio

Hello Ron,

I hope you'll enjoy our country in your trip here. As Nunzio tried to suggest, I would try a search in Gaeta. Absolutely avoid Rome beach and all the area south and north due to the high iron content of the sand there. I warrantee you'd not be able to use anything other than a good PI detector there and even with taht it is a difficult highly trashy area.
I've never been searching in Gaeta, but my friend Nunzio tells me it is a good place, full of tourists during summer.
You'll not find a virgin beach anyway. So be prepared for the desert.
Bring the Excal. Looking for coins at the beach is not forbidden here but do not mention anything to anyone about archeological anything.
The best infos I can give you of the area are these:

Wave peaks in Gaeta area:

3 December 3 meters

18 December 4 meters

29 December 3 meters

3 Janyuary 2.8 meters

19 january 2.8 meters

Here are daily tides for Gaeta. Time is Local.

The last time I was in Italy I was a drunken sailor many many years ago. I am looking forward to enjoying the things I missed when I was much younger and stupid. I will bring the Excal and hope for the time for a good hunt. Thanks again.
