Going to hunt a ghost town today

Got permission to hunt the town my dad was born in. It was a company town , mostly populated by European immigrants. Most of the town is now quarry. There are only four buildings standing. Two churches, the bar and the jail LOL. It has been hunted before , and there will be a lot of bottle caps, pull tabs... because it became a popular place for teens to drink beer. Still , I am confident that the vaquero will find something. Im thinking out of the box. Find a trail that heads to the hills and hunt it. Lots of hunting was done there. Coon hunting was popular, along with ,squirrels, rabbits and pigeons. Dad said they dined on a lot on pigeons. Its going to be fun even if I only dig shotgun shells. I hope to find a couple of nice relics from the era.

This place is my roots. There are a lot of my relatives in the cemetery. The crucifix tombstones look like the ones from a Dracula movie.

This is a picture of what the place use to look like. I dont know the people.

My great grandmother standing in front of her house. Dad said I met her when i was little. I dont remember.

Good luck, happy hunting, and be sure to let us know what you find.

Sending you good luck Vibes! Man I love hunting those types of sites...

company town , you can bet they where poor , never the less they lost things, and maybe some nice things, if drinking was going on they lost things for sure. the buildings look to be from the 1870,s you know that frugal old granny may have saved a lot of money over time and its stashed, this should be an interesting dig

I think that would be fun to hunt a place from your roots. Be cool if you found something from your grandmother... KEN

Good luck.

The hunt was a success . Although I didnt find much , I spent 7 hours trying. The weather was beautiful and I had a great time. The town was difficult to search. Lots of metal , cinders, and rocky soil. I had to give up on several digs because I couldnt get through the rock. So I headed to the hill overlooking the town. Found lots of bullets and shotgun shells. Dug 23 cents of clad up there. My best find was this tag, about the size of a half dollar. Theres still areas to search, Ill have to try again.

somtime we think we got it in the bag , and its just the other way around ay maybe another hunt will turn up that sweet spot for you .

There wasnt much huntable area. The town has been bulldozed and turned into quarry and a new highway has destroyed a lot of it.. Still, there are home foundations in the in the hills, I hear . Ill go back and do some exploring.

They used I tag like that when going to work, why I'm not sure. May have been a way to keep track of pay or who to look for when they had a cave in. They still had some of the camps, towns still going when I was little. Most just had the widows of the men there. Very hard life in that day.

I wonder where they brought the dirt from that town, it has to be somewhere and in it are the artifacts you seek,
