Going to build a new 8inch coil for the Pulse machine...............

I have a 10.5inch coil that comes as standard on my Pulse machine which covers most of my needs but in some situations a smaller and larger coil can be a great help but at a heavy price tag, anyway looking on a well known auction site this morning and found a brand new set of 8inch coil cover and cable gland for about

Go to geotech1.com for all the info you need to build one. I've built several.
You would do well to get a good LCR meter and an O-scope.
You can also get coil housings from hayes electronics. He sells all sizes and shapes for cheap. Good luck with your project.

The coil covers have arrived but have to admit i dont have the knowlege as yet to build a coil up,so today i bought 2 brand new Garrett Mono coils for the SeaHunter 11 the 14x10 and also a 8inch coil, these should arrive early next week and will be calibrated for the Pulse unit i hope by next weekend.

My Theory, Sometimes it's easier to dig Gold and buy what you need.....instead of building, but it is nice to know what makes them tick...

Received both my Garrett SeaHunter coils back after being calibrated for my Crossbow Pulse machine and have to admit it was well worth buying them, the stock 10.5inch coil is a good all round coil but its handy if you have additional coils as well, both the 14X10 Mono and 8inch Mono work very well, the smaller one is very sensitive to our small silver hammered coins,we have one roman villa site that in my mind is the hardest field too detect due to being highly mineralized infact the sand which is about 70 miles inland is nearly black its that bad.But using a PI and the Mono coils should be a very good combination.

Will be out this weekend and give both new coils a good workout and will update on how they perform.
