Going to a wedding on the FL Emerald Coast in JULY ( ). Any suggestions for detecting the Destin/Fort Walton Bch area? ...If not, how about some rea

Bring your water and beach detectors. The tourists will be plentiful and they drop a lot of coins. The really good stuff is in the water. There are fewer MDers that hunt the water. The water will be warm enough at that time to not have to wear a wet suit. Bring plenty of sun screen as the sun reflecting off the white sand will fry you quickly.

Art, there are 3 or 4 public beach parks in the area that get a ton of traffic, along with hotel areas, if you have decent access. By that point, there should be a bit more to find....slim pickin's for now. The water has only cracked 70 degrees in the past week, so the fresh drops in the water are few and far between so far. 70 degrees may sound like a sauna to many, but it's still abnormally cool for the Gulf this late in the game. But we've got plenty of 80s (and 90s before long) coming up to start warming up the water.
