Going on my 7th year with the GT. How long will you continue with a GT ?

So many times due to winter blues/cabin fever I get the itch for a new machine and almost sell my Sovereign GT.
I have it all tricked out with plugger custom parts, Ron's 180 meter, Sunray probe, Sunray S-8,10x12 SEF, multiple lower rods, and an extra full pole assembly and arm rest so all I have to do is just move the control box to the coil not the other way around.
I love the machine.
Hopefully I won't start to get board during the winter months and think again that I need to sell my GT.
I have to remind myself just because the Sovereign is a beep and dig analog machine does not mean it is at ANY disadvantage to the digital big boys.
Who else is staying with their Sovereign?

Rick(ND)sorry if it seems like I am trying to snipe your similar previous topic. I apologize

Any way here are SOME of my Sovereign GT highlights.

:ausflag:Nice finds Jason I have just purchased a new one 2 weeks ago ,all I have read about the GT once you get the hand on using one they are hard to get much better regards john

Jason, nice finds in photos,My Sovereign isn't going anywhere because at this point there is no replacement that performs like this unit. This detector isn't perfect ,but it sure make hunting a lot easier. Thanks Ron

I'm starting to get the digital itch myself. But, the GT isn't going anywhere.

I cant say enough about the Sovereign unit,s IMHO best beach machine,s made with the right coils , it,s been 5 years now i been using the GT and just recent i got a Sov XS2 pro brand new still in box another very easy great machine to use works fantasit in fields for coins and relics . Nice find,s Jason . HH Jim

I am a newbie to detecting. July 2012 I purchased my first ever detector a Sovereign Gt. For a while I thought that I had wasted a lot of money but as time went by and I started to learn what the machine was attempting to tell me a love affair blossomed. After almost a year and a half of use I hope that the machine outlasts me. Since I will be 73 in less than two months that just may happen. It has found me a lot of modern clad, a few silver coins and rings. I liked the Gt so much that I bought an Excal II for the beach. I was expecting to hear the clear crisp tones of the Gt from the Excal but find that I was mistaken. I am beginning to learn some of what the Excal is telling me. But I do not like the Cheap headphones that Minelab puts on the Excal.

I cannot imagine being without a Sov GT at the beach; with a WOT coil /all metal it blasts as deep as I care to dig, but with the Tornado 800 it dissects targets out of iron city. And you can change settings with a simple dial or toggle switch. It is so elegantly simple to adjust that I can concentrate on coil control/sweep speed while walking all over the beach without having to constantly regroundbalance. I even bought a used control box as a backup for when I eventually wear my primary unit out!

The post I made was over a year ago and someone dragged it up again which is OK too as it is always nice to know we have more that love their Sovereigns.
I been detecting since 1973 and with a Sovereign since 1997, tried many other detectors since then, but still keep a GT with the Sun Ray meter, the Sun Ray S-1 probe plus my 8 inch coinsearch coil which is a great coil yet and has done well for me over the years. The main coil has been the stock 10 inch Tornado coil on the GT, but did get one of the 12X10 SEF coil to try, but never did yet as so many like them. I have to admit it, but never even used the GT this past summer as I just didn't seem to get the time out with it as when I did go out I was trying to learn the CTX 3030 and also the Deus, so my GT sat on the wall all summer and I did miss it and sure plan on using it a lot next summer unless I get more health problems.
If i could keep only 1 detector it would be the GT as I seem to dig less trash and more good targets and feel the ID with the Sun Ray meter is the most accurate in my opinion.

MY GT HAS BEEN TOO GOOD TO ME TO GO ANYWHERE. IT'S AN AMAZING DETECTOR. I MIGHT ADD OR SELL OTHERS HERE AND THERE, BUT THE GT HAS A PERMANENT HOME WITH ME.. HH-MARK

I just got rid of mine after about 7 or 8 years (actually owned two over that time) and bought a CTX. I also still have my Excal II, but the GT was my beach detector of choice and found me LOTS of gold over the years. Hope I don't miss it.....

I no longer have a GT but have a couple of Elites, one rigged for the beach and the other is just a back up box I keep in storage. The Sov has made some wonderful finds over the years for me, its bought a couple of kayaks and bicycles from all the change Ive found and I still have most of the gold and silver jewelry Ive found. Probably always have one sov as long as I continue detecting.

I just sold my GT today and I'm almost sick! I've purchased a CTX and Excal 2 recently, and needed to make room! I just shipped it an hour ago and don't think I will be able to sleep! There was just something I loved about hitting a wide open beach with the GT on my hip! Oh well I hope the new owner gets good use out of her:clapping:

I love my GT, i would never get rid of it, shes go's deep and i like the pitch hold sound, the best machine for finding coins next to iron....
