Going on a cruise to Mexico and Jamaica

I am about to go on a cruise in a couple weeks and wondered if anyone has tried taking their detector with them before to search at their destination points? Any feed back or ideas would be great.

We went to Mexico a few years back with no problems at all. We were told all of the beaches were government owned and were free to hunt them. No problems with taking the detectors in our luggage or customs. I don't know about Jamaica.

Best time to detect before sunrise ( early morning ) before the crowds start showing up on the sand.
Evening after sunset when they leave for the bars

found gold and platinum in the water. I mainly water hunted and did great. I hunted in Montego Bay and Cancun. also went to the Domincan Republic and found gold there to. found a lot of foreign coins in the water and sand... I am sure there are some lost rings in the sand but most likely more are lost while swimming. I had no problems at any of the places, as a matter of fact a lot of people did not even know what I was doing.. One guy thought that I was looking for fish.?? Also I only run across one other guy detecting and he was in the water and from Spain. I am going to Negril in March and taking my cz21. By the way I broke it down and carried it on the plane with me . Good luck and you will have fun!

Thanks for the tips guys! This could be really interesting. I guess I need to call the cruise line first and make sure its Ok. We are also going to a Sandals beach resort too in the Bahamas. Not sure if they will let me search there.
