Going Full Time MXT

I have been using the DFX as my main detector but recently find myself grabbing the MXT more and more. It's just so simple and I have found that it outperforms the DFX in my ground. I really do not need the dual frequency because I never hunt the beach (6 hours away to closest one). I spoke with a guy that had a MXT with a D2 coil and SunRay probe that was willing to trade me for my DFX with my 950 coil. I weighed out the pros and cons and decided to go with the MXT. I love the MXT and with my short time with it, think it's the best machine that I have ever had for my type and style of hunting. I thought when I first made the switch that I would miss the tones on the DFX but the MXT is so much more stable that I think I was passing good targets with the DFX. I think the old K.I.S.S. method is best for me at my stage of life.

I have an mxt pro and I used to have a Garrett at pro. (I got tempted by all those underwater videos by aquachig). I always had both detectors inside the house standing side by side. Whenever I went out for a hunt- I instinctively grabbed the trusty mxt pro. I never used the at pro. I sold it only after a few months. Long live the mxt ............

I actually had my heart set on the MXT Pro but I didn't find anyone willing to give one up for my trade. I really don't mind that much because I used my friend M6 once that had the 7 tone ID and I didn't really care for it being used to the 191 tones on the DFX. I have also found that no tone ID actually forces me to check each target out a little more and I think it will lead to better finds. Now if I can just figure out a way to rig up a light on the screen then I am set.

Well didn't get much sleep last night contemplating my decision to trade the DFX and I just have a bad feeling that if I trade I will regret it. I called the guy I was trading the DFX to and told him that I wanted to back out of the trade. He was very nice and seemed to understand so everyone's happy. I will still probably use the MXT in situations when I want to try to dig deep silver and keep the 10X12 SEF on it for that purpose but for now the 6X8 SEF and the probe is back on the DFX. I think I will go detecting !!!!
