Going crazy!!!

Went down the beach the other day when my nox 800 went crazy, beeping all the time and giving loads of different numbers, I removed the skid plate twice and washed it off I also removed the coil from the machine which seemed to help but sometimes still goes mad sometimes.

Any ideas please.

WOW.. maybe EMI, or cell phone towers in the immediate area ? Hope nothing major.

I've been on beaches where I had to cut the sensitivity down to 19 or so to get it to run smoothly.
Definitely have to keep the sand out.
And I'm sure you know about your cellphone causing EMI.
I had trouble at VA beach a few weeks ago, I soon went back to the truck and got the Deus II, it ran better at almost full sensitivity.

It has worked well on that beach on other occasions, or it is the first time it has been there.
Where I live, there are beaches where some detectorists go crazy on wet sand

How old is the detector? my friends did that he ended up installing a new battery all was fine after that.

Been down that beach loads of times and never had a problem, will go again when the tides are right, there may be a new cell tower that has not been there before I shall check.

Went to a beach on the opposite side of the County the day after, the 800 seemed to be running better but not perfect, may have to bring out my Detector Pro Wader from retirement.

Can you ground balance the 800 on a beach? Did you noise cancel a few times in a row?
The last huge storm brought in black sand or winds exposed it. Many folks complained or reported it online.
I know it’s happened to me in the past with many different machines And it is frustrating for sure

I thinkI may have found the problem. I was down at one of my beaches yesterday and the 800 started to play up so I knelt down to check the coil and I felt a vibration by my knee my 10 year old Vibra probe had switched itself on and as they hate each other there was a lot of noise, so I think that maybe the problem. Don't know why the probe switched on but I shall keep an eye on it

I hope you found the problem! I was out today before I got blasted by rain. Got into some bad emi and dropped sensitivity and was changing back and forth between field 2 and park 1.
