Goin on a hunt w/a CZ-5

I have a CZ-5 to use and today will be my firt time out with it, I am going to a school that I have hunted a few times. I am curious how it will do, I have been mainly using Tesoro detectors. I have been using the search feature of the forum and have read many many posts about the CZ's, lots of great informative information.

Good luck on your hunt HH

GoogleMikes CZ page a wealth of info for your perusal...First on list learn to ground balance properly using the bobbing method...2nd learn how to tell those blasted deep rusty nails and avoid digging them...coil for coil deep as any and in user friendly fashion...

The hunt with the CZ went well, its was a fun detector to use (I am trying to find a small coil for it but no luck yet). I think that I need to read up on the ground balancing, I found a clean piece of ground set the threshold to where I could hear it, lifted the coil a couple feet above the ground and bobbed the coil to where it almost touched the ground, kept repeating this while moving the g.b. knob until there was very little change in the threshold (my g.b. was about 3) and started hunting. I found a handful of clad coins, some nickels @ decent depth. Thanks for the reply PowerDetecting and thank you Dan for the link.

Ski make sure your when you are ground balancing put the sens. and Volume at 10 so you can hear the changes well. After balancing usually 5 or 6 sens. depending on your
area to keep a stable unit and max. depth...As far as volume I like 10 when going for deepies to be able to hear them better and of course 5 or under your audio is modulated deep low and shallow loud audio..Remember foil area is the hot spot for most gold rings lost and if you get a foil to nickle bounce dig it every time...In the field is not the time to practice ground balancing but your back yard is as you can take your time and after a while in the field a couple of bobs and your good to go as you will know the approx. number it will balance at and set it at that number to start..Your going to love those deep silver that will come in time...PS: buy a longer digger....

I did notice that sensitivity around 5 or 6 seemed best, I have to get out of the habbit of turning the sens. to max (whixh is how I run the Tesoro's).

It may not be needed but just a reminder, GB where there is nothing indicated under the coil. GB over a target biases your setting. Obvious, but a reminder never hurts.

I really appreciate my Sampson over my regular Lesche digger. It is much faster, cleaner and it makes a nice helper in standing up (bad knees). I find a good scoop and/or a regular shovel at the beach makes life easier there.

I love my CZ5 and wish it was the first MD I'd bought. I have a CZ7 coming any day:clapping::detecting: Splashproof & the longest battery life going!
My F75SE is my go to unit inland and my HHPI is at the beach, but the CZ is a close second at both.
