Took a friend out for his 1st hunt while sharing my XLT, his will be here in a week, from Ebay. Didn't find much change in the park just a few blocks from my house, but enough to give him a few technique lessons. 1st thing I came across after showing him how to turn it on showed a quarter hit at 2"....I pulled my 1st ever R.R. lock, 8" down. It's from the Grays Harbor Railway and Light Co. from the '20's or so. The hasp is still loose, but locked and the cover still swings. I wire brushed it because the patina was so thick I could read the letters.
I kept it since I hit it and dug it up, I gave him everything else.
I got to prove to him the old detecting proverb "You never know for sure what it is until it's in your hand"
